وَبِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ قَالَ أَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ لِي قَرَابَةً أَصِلُهُمْ وَيَقْطَعُونِي وَأَحْلُمُ عَنْهُمْ فَيَجْهَلُونَ عَلَيَّ وَأُحْسِنُ إِلَيْهِمْ وَيُسِيئُونَ إِلَيَّ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنْ كَانَ كَمَا تَقُولُ لَكَأَنَّمَا تُسِفُّهُمْ الْمَلَّ وَلَا يَزَالُ مَعَكَ مِنْ اللَّهِ ظَهِيرٌ عَلَيْهِمْ مَادُمْتَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ.
English Translation
And with this chain of narration, he said: A man came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have relatives whom I maintain ties with, but they cut me off; I am forbearing with them, but they treat me with ignorance; I do good to them, but they treat me badly." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If it is as you say, then it is as if you are feeding them hot ashes, and you will continue to have a supporter from Allah against them as long as you continue doing so."
