حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ أَبِي الْعَبَّاسِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُوَيْسٍ قَالَ قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ إِنَّ أَبَا عُبَيْدٍ مَوْلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّهُ يُسْتَجَابُ لِأَحَدِكُمْ مَا لَمْ يَعْجَلْ فَيَقُولُ قَدْ دَعَوْتُ رَبِّي فَلَمْ يَسْتَجِبْ لِي.
English Translation
Ibrahim ibn Abi al-'Abbas narrated to us, he said: Abu Uways narrated to us, he said: al-Zuhri said that Abu 'Ubayd - the freed slave of 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf - informed him that he heard Abu Hurayrah say: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "The supplication of any one of you is answered as long as he is not hasty, saying: 'I supplicated to my Lord but He did not respond to me.'"
