حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعْدٍ الصَّاغَانِيُّ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُيَسَّرٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَجْلَانَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّمَا الْإِمَامُ لِيُؤْتَمَّ بِهِ فَإِذَا كَبَّرَ فَكَبِّرُوا وَإِذَا قَرَأَ فَأَنْصِتُوا وَإِذَا قَالَ { وَلَا الضَّالِّينَ } فَقُولُوا آمِينَ وَإِذَا رَكَعَ فَارْكَعُوا وَإِذَا قَالَ سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ فَقُولُوا رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ وَإِذَا صَلَّى جَالِسًا فَصَلُّوا جُلُوسًا أَجْمَعُونَ.
English Translation
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'The imam is there to be followed. When he says Allahu Akbar, say Allahu Akbar. When he recites, listen attentively. When he says "wa lad-dallin," say Amin. When he bows, bow. When he says "Sami Allahu liman hamidah," say "Rabbana wa lakal hamd." And if he prays sitting, then pray sitting, all of you.'
