حَدَّثَنَا هَيْثَمٌ أَخْبَرَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ مَيْسَرَةَ عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ يَقُولُ الْعَبْدُ مَالِي وَمَالِي وَإِنَّمَا لَهُ مِنْ مَالِهِ ثَلَاثٌ مَا أَكَلَ فَأَفْنَى أَوْ لَبِسَ فَأَبْلَى أَوْ أَعْطَى فَأَقْنَى مَا سِوَى ذَلِكَ فَهُوَ ذَاهِبٌ وَتَارِكُهُ لِلنَّاسِ.
English Translation
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'The servant says: My wealth, my wealth! But he has only three things from his wealth: what he ate and consumed, what he wore and wore out, or what he gave and stored up. Whatever is beyond that is going away, and he is leaving it for the people.'
