حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَا تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى تَأْخُذَ أُمَّتِي أَخْذَ الْأُمَمِ قَبْلَهَا شِبْرًا بِشِبْرٍ وَذِرَاعًا بِذِرَاعٍ قَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَمَا فَعَلَتْ فَارِسُ وَالرُّومُ قَالَ وَمَا النَّاسُ إِلَّا أُولَئِكَ.
English Translation
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "The Hour will not come until my Ummah follows the ways of the nations before it, span by span and cubit by cubit." A man said: "O Messenger of Allah, like Persia and Rome?" He said: "Who else are the people but those?"
