حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ {وَتَجْعَلُونَ رِزْقَكُمْ} يَقُولُ شُكْرَكُمْ {أَنَّكُمْ تُكَذِّبُونَ} تَقُولُونَ مُطِرْنَا بِنَوْءِ كَذَا وَكَذَا بِنَجْمِ كَذَا وَكَذَا. حَدَّثَنَا مُؤَمَّلٌ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ رَفَعَهُ {وَتَجْعَلُونَ رِزْقَكُمْ} قَالَ مُؤَمَّلٌ قُلْتُ لِسُفْيَانَ إِنَّ إِسْرَائِيلَ رَفَعَهُ قَالَ صِبْيَانٌ صِبْيَانٌ.
English Translation
It was narrated from `Hadrat Ali (may Allah be well pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: “And instead (of thanking Allah) for the provision He gives you, you deny (Him by disbelief)` : you say, ‘We were given rain by such-and-such a star.” It was narrated from `Hadrat Ali, in a marfoo’ report: `And instead (of thanking Allah) for the provision He gives you` . Muʼammal said: I said to Sufyan: Isra`eel narrated it in a marfoo` report (i.e., attributed to the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). He said: Boys, boys.
