حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْمُتَوَكِّلِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ أَعْطَانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَيْئًا مِنْ تَمْرٍ فَجَعَلْتُهُ فِي مِكْتَلٍ لَنَا فَعَلَّقْنَاهُ فِي سَقْفِ الْبَيْتِ فَلَمْ نَزَلْ نَأْكُلُ مِنْهُ حَتَّى كَانَ آخِرُهُ أَصَابَهُ أَهْلُ الشَّامِ حَيْثُ أَغَارُوا عَلَى الْمَدِينَةِ.
English Translation
Abu Hurayrah said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) gave me some dates, and I put them in a basket of ours and hung it from the ceiling of the house. We kept eating from it until the last of it was taken by the people of Syria when they raided Madinah."
