English Translation
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'There were two women, each with a son. A wolf came and took one of the two boys. They took their case to Dawud (David), who ruled in favor of the older woman. They left and went to Sulayman (Solomon), who said: Bring me a knife and I will cut him in half between them. The younger woman said: May Allah have mercy on you, he is her son — do not cut him. So he ruled in favor of the younger woman.' Abu Hurayrah said: 'By Allah, we never knew what a sikkin (knife) was until that day. We used to call it a mudyah.'
