English Translation
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'The poor person is not the one who goes around begging from people, who is turned away with a morsel or two, or a date or two. Rather, the poor person is the one who does not have enough to make him self-sufficient, yet he is too modest to ask people, and others do not notice him to give him charity.'
