حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ مَرَّ بِقَوْمٍ يَتَوَضَّئُونَ مِنْ مَطْهَرَةٍ فَقَالَ أَحْسِنُوا الْوُضُوءَ يَرْحَمْكُمْ اللَّهُ أَلَمْ تَسْمَعُوا مَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَيْلٌ لِلْأَعْقَابِ مِنْ النَّارِ.
English Translation
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Cling to truthfulness, for truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise. A man continues to be truthful and strives for truthfulness until he is written with Allah as truthful. Beware of lying, for lying leads to wickedness, and wickedness leads to the Fire. A man continues to lie and strives for lying until he is written with Allah as a liar.'
