حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي الزُّهْرِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا مِنْ نَبِيٍّ وَلَا وَالٍ إِلَّا وَلَهُ بِطَانَتَانِ بِطَانَةٌ تَأْمُرُهُ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَبِطَانَةٌ لَا تَأْلُوهُ خَبَالًا وَمَنْ وُقِيَ شَرَّهُمَا فَقَدْ وُقِيَ وَهُوَ مَعَ الَّتِي تَغْلِبُ عَلَيْهِ مِنْهُمَا.
English Translation
Al-Walid told us, al-Awza'i told us, al-Zuhri told me, from Abu Salamah, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There is no prophet or ruler but has two inner circles: an inner circle that commands him to good, and an inner circle that spares no effort in urging him to corruption; and whoever is protected from the evil of both has indeed been protected, and he is with whichever of the two prevails over him."
