English Translation

Muhammad ibn Fudayl told us, from Umarah, from Abu Zur'ah, who said: I entered the house of Marwan ibn al-Hakam with Abu Hurayrah, and he saw images in it while it was being built, and he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: "Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says: 'Who does greater wrong than one who goes to create a creation like My creation? Let them create an atom, or let them create a grain, or let them create a barleycorn.'" Then he called for water for ablution and performed ablution, washing his forearms until he passed the elbows, and when he washed his feet he passed the ankles up to the shins. I said: "What is this?" He said: "This is the extent of the adornment."
