English Translation
Muhammad ibn Fudayl told us, from Umarah, from Abu Zur'ah, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: A man came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and said: "O Messenger of Allah, which charity has the greatest reward?" He said: "By your father, I will surely tell you: that you give charity while you are healthy, tight-fisted, fearing poverty and hoping for long life, and do not delay until, when it reaches the throat, you say: 'Give so-and-so this and so-and-so that,' when it already belonged to so-and-so."
