حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ أَخْبَرَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ سَلَّامٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ خَبَرِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ أَنَّهُ لَمَّا كَسَفَتْ الشَّمْسُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نُودِيَ أَنْ الصَّلَاةُ جَامِعَةٌ فَرَكَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فِي سَجْدَةٍ ثُمَّ جُلِّيَ عَنْ الشَّمْسِ فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ أُمُّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ مَا سَجَدْتُ سُجُودًا قَطُّ أَطْوَلَ مِنْهُ وَلَا رَكَعْتُ رُكُوعًا قَطُّ أَطْوَلَ مِنْهُ.
English Translation
Hisham ibn Sa'id told us: Mu'awiyah ibn Sallam told us, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir: Abu Salamah ibn Abd al-Rahman told me, from the account of Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As, that when the sun eclipsed in the time of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, a call went out that the prayer was to be held in congregation. So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, performed two rak'ahs with a prostration, then the sun was uncovered. Aishah, Mother of the Believers, said: I never prostrated a prostration longer than that, nor bowed a bowing longer than that.
