حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ أَرْطَاةَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَدَّ ابْنَتَهُ إِلَى أَبِي الْعَاصِ بِمَهْرٍ جَدِيدٍ وَنِكَاحٍ جَدِيدٍ قَالَ أَبِي فِي حَدِيثِ حَجَّاحٍ رَدَّ زَيْنَبَ ابْنَتَهُ قَالَ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ ضَعِيفٌ أَوْ قَالَ وَاهٍ وَلَمْ يَسْمَعْهُ الْحَجَّاجُ مِنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ إِنَّمَا سَمِعَهُ مِنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ الْعَرْزَمِيِّ وَالْعَرْزَمِيُّ لَا يُسَاوِي حَدِيثُهُ شَيْئًا وَالْحَدِيثُ الصَّحِيحُ الَّذِي رُوِيَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَقَرَّهُمَا عَلَى النِّكَاحِ الْأَوَّلِ.
English Translation
Yazid ibn Harun told us: al-Hajjaj ibn Artat informed us, from Amr ibn Shu'ayb, from his father, from his grandfather, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, returned his daughter to Abu al-As with a new dowry and a new marriage contract. My father said: in the hadith of Hajjaj, "he returned his daughter Zaynab." He said: this is a weak hadith, or he said unsound, and al-Hajjaj did not hear it from Amr ibn Shu'ayb; rather he heard it from Muhammad ibn Ubaydullah al-Arzami, and al-Arzami's hadith is worth nothing. The sound hadith that has been narrated is that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, confirmed the two of them on the first marriage.
