حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ عَنْ أَبِي السَّمْحِ عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ هِلَالٍ الصَّدَفِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَوْ أَنَّ رَصَاصَةً مِثْلَ هَذِهِ وَأَشَارَ إِلَى مِثْلِ جُمْجُمَةٍ أُرْسِلَتْ مِنْ السَّمَاءِ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ وَهِيَ مَسِيرَةُ خَمْسِ مِائَةِ سَنَةٍ لَبَلَغَتْ الْأَرْضَ قَبْلَ اللَّيْلِ وَلَوْ أَنَّهَا أُرْسِلَتْ مِنْ رَأْسِ السِّلْسِلَةِ لَسَارَتْ أَرْبَعِينَ خَرِيفًا اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَبْلُغَ أَصْلَهَا أَوْ قَعْرَهَا حَدَّثَنَاه الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عِيسَى أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ أَبُو شُجَاعٍ عَنْ أَبِي السَّمْحِ عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ هِلَالٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَهُ.
English Translation
Ali ibn Ishaq narrated to us: Abdullah informed us, Sa'id ibn Yazid informed us from Abu al-Samh from Isa ibn Hilal al-Sadafi from Abdullah ibn Amr who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "If a piece of lead the size of this" - and he pointed to something like a skull - "were sent down from the sky to the earth, a distance of five hundred years, it would reach the earth before nightfall. And if it were sent down from the top of the chain, it would travel for forty years, day and night, before reaching its base or its bottom." Al-Hasan ibn Isa narrated to us: Abdullah ibn al-Mubarak informed us, Sa'id ibn Yazid Abu Shuja informed us from Abu al-Samh from Isa ibn Hilal from Abdullah ibn Amr from the Prophet (peace be upon him) - similarly.
