حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ سَمِعَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَوْمًا يَتَدَارَءُونَ فَقَالَ إِنَّمَا هَلَكَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ بِهَذَا ضَرَبُوا كِتَابَ اللَّهِ بَعْضَهُ بِبَعْضٍ وَإِنَّمَا نَزَلَ كِتَابُ اللَّهِ يُصَدِّقُ بَعْضُهُ بَعْضًا فَلَا تُكَذِّبُوا بَعْضَهُ بِبَعْضٍ فَمَا عَلِمْتُمْ مِنْهُ فَقُولُوا وَمَا جَهِلْتُمْ فَكِلُوهُ إِلَى عَالِمِهِ.
English Translation
Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us: Ma'mar informed us from al-Zuhri from Amr ibn Shu'ayb from his father from his grandfather who said: The Prophet (peace be upon him) heard a people disputing, so he said: "Those before you were only destroyed by this - they struck parts of the Book of Allah against other parts. The Book of Allah was only revealed confirming parts of itself, so do not deny one part of it by another. What you know of it, speak it, and what you do not know of it, refer it to its knower."
