حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ دَاوُدَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ حُيَيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحُبُلِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ الصِّيَامُ وَالْقُرْآنُ يَشْفَعَانِ لِلْعَبْدِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يَقُولُ الصِّيَامُ أَيْ رَبِّ مَنَعْتُهُ الطَّعَامَ وَالشَّهَوَاتِ بِالنَّهَارِ فَشَفِّعْنِي فِيهِ وَيَقُولُ الْقُرْآنُ مَنَعْتُهُ النَّوْمَ بِاللَّيْلِ فَشَفِّعْنِي فِيهِ قَالَ فَيُشَفَّعَانِ.
English Translation
Hasan narrated to us: Ibn Lahi'ah narrated, Huyay narrated from Abu Abd al-Rahman al-Hubuli from Abdullah ibn Amr that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: There are two qualities — whoever has them, Allah counts him among the grateful and the patient. Whoever looks in his religion to someone above him and follows him, and looks in his worldly affairs to someone below him and praises Allah for the bounty He has bestowed upon him, Allah counts him among the grateful and the patient. And whoever looks in his religion to someone below him and looks in his worldly affairs to someone above him and grieves over what passes him by, Allah does not count him among the grateful and the patient.
