حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّ مَثَلَ الْمُنَافِقِ مَثَلُ الشَّاةِ الْعَائِرَةِ بَيْنَ الْغَنَمَيْنِ تَعِيرُ إِلَى هَذِهِ مَرَّةً وَإِلَى هَذِهِ مَرَّةً لَا تَدْرِي أَيَّهُمَا تَتْبَعُ.
English Translation
Ibn Numayr and Muhammad ibn Ubayd told us, they said: Ubaydullah told us, from Nafi', from Ibn Umar: that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The example of the hypocrite is like the example of a stray sheep wandering between two flocks, going to this one at times and to that one at other times, not knowing which to follow."
