English Translation
Ali ibn Ayyash told us: Isma'il ibn Ayyash told us: Yahya ibn Sa'id told me: Salih ibn Kaysan informed me that Isma'il ibn Muhammad informed him that Nafi' informed him, from Abdullah ibn Umar, from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, that he said: 'Envy is only permissible - or as Allah willed him to say - regarding two qualities: a man to whom Allah, exalted is He, has given the Qur'an, and he stands with it in the hours of night and day; and a man to whom Allah has given wealth, and he spends it.'
