حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ حَدَّثَنَا خَارِجَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ أَعِزَّ الْإِسْلَامَ بِأَحَبِّ هَذَيْنِ الرَّجُلَيْنِ إِلَيْكَ بِأَبِي جَهْلٍ أَوْ بِعُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ فَكَانَ أَحَبُّهُمَا إِلَى اللَّهِ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ.
English Translation
Abu 'Amir told us: Kharijah ibn 'Abdullah al-Ansari told us, from Nafi', from Ibn 'Umar, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "O Allah, strengthen Islam through whichever of these two men is more beloved to You: Abu Jahl or 'Umar ibn al-Khattab." And the more beloved of the two to Allah was 'Umar ibn al-Khattab.
