حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَقِيلِ بْنِ طَلْحَةَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْخَصِيبِ قَالَ كُنْتُ قَاعِدًا فَجَاءَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ مَجْلِسِهِ لَهُ فَلَمْ يَجْلِسْ فِيهِ وَقَعَدَ فِي مَكَانٍ آخَرَ فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ مَا كَانَ عَلَيْكَ لَوْ قَعَدْتَ فَقَالَ لَمْ أَكُنْ أَقْعُدُ فِي مَقْعَدِكَ وَلَا مَقْعَدِ غَيْرِكَ بَعْدَ شَيْءٍ شَهِدْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَامَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ مَجْلِسِهِ فَذَهَبَ لِيَجْلِسَ فِيهِ فَنَهَاهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
English Translation
Muhammad ibn Ja'far told us, Shu'bah told us, from Aqil ibn Talhah: I heard Abu al-Khasib say: I was sitting when Ibn Umar came, and a man rose from his seat for him, but he did not sit in it, and sat elsewhere. The man said: What harm would it have been if you had sat? He said: I would not sit in your place nor in anyone else's place, after something I witnessed from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: a man came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and another man rose from his seat for him and went to sit in it, but the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade him.
