حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ شَقِيقٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ الْوَتْرِ قَالَ فَمَشَيْتُ أَنَا وَذَاكَ الرَّجُلُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى وَالْوَتْرُ رَكْعَةٌ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ لَمْ يَقُلْ مِنْ آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ.
English Translation
Muhammad told us, Shu'bah told us, from Abu Bishr: I heard Abdullah ibn Shaqiq narrating from Ibn Umar, that a man asked the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, about the witr prayer. He said: So I walked along with that man, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The night prayer is two by two, and the witr is one rak'ah. Shu'bah said: He did not say at the end of the night.
