English Translation
Affan told us, Wuhayb told us, Musa ibn Uqbah told me, Salim told me, from Abd Allah ibn Umar, from Zayd ibn Harithah al-Kalbi, freedman of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), that Abd Allah ibn Umar used to say: "We used not to call him [Zayd] anything but Zayd ibn Muhammad, until the Qur'an was revealed: {Call them by [the names of] their fathers; it is more just in the sight of Allah}."
