حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ أَخْبَرَنِي سَالِمٌ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ لَقِيَ زَيْدَ بْنَ عَمْرِو بْنِ نُفَيْلٍ بِأَسْفَلِ بَلْدَحَ وَذَلِكَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنْزِلَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْوَحْيُ فَقَدَّمَ إِلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُفْرَةً فِيهَا لَحْمٌ فَأَبَى أَنْ يَأْكُلَ مِنْهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنِّي لَا آكُلُ مَا تَذْبَحُونَ عَلَى أَنْصَابِكُمْ وَلَا آكُلُ إِلَّا مِمَّا ذُكِرَ اسْمُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ حَدَّثَ هَذَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
English Translation
Affan narrated to us: Wuhayb narrated to us: Musa ibn Uqbah narrated to us: Salim informed me that he heard Abdullah relate from the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, that he met Zayd ibn Amr ibn Nufayl at the lower part of Baldah, and that was before revelation came down upon the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him. The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, set before him a tray with meat on it, but he refused to eat from it, then said: "I do not eat what you slaughter upon your idols; I eat nothing but that over which the name of God has been mentioned." Abdullah ibn Umar related this from the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him.
