حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ سَمِعْتُ حَنْظَلَةَ بْنَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ الْجُمَحِيَّ سَمِعْتُ سَالِمَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ لَأَنْ يَمْتَلِئَ جَوْفُ أَحَدِكُمْ قَيْحًا خَيْرٌ لَهُ مِنْ أَنْ يَمْتَلِئَ شِعْرًا.
English Translation
Ishaq ibn Sulayman narrated to us: I heard Hanzalah ibn Abi Sufyan al-Jumahi say: I heard Salim ibn Abdullah say: I heard Abdullah ibn Umar say: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: That the inside of one of you be filled with pus is better for him than that he be filled with poetry.
