حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، حَدَّثَنِي شُعَيْبٌ أَبُو شَيْبَةَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَطَاءً الْخُرَاسَانِيَّ، يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ الْمُسَيَّبِ، يَقُولُ رَأَيْتُ عُثْمَانَ قَاعِدًا فِي الْمَقَاعِدِ فَدَعَا بِطَعَامٍ مِمَّا مَسَّتْهُ النَّارُ فَأَكَلَهُ ثُمَّ قَامَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ فَصَلَّى ثُمَّ قَالَ عُثْمَانُ قَعَدْتُ مَقْعَدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَكَلْتُ طَعَامَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ وَصَلَّيْتُ صَلَاةَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
English Translation
Sa`eed bin al-Musayyab said.: I saw `Hadrat Uthman (رضي الله عنه ) sitting in al-Maqa`id. He called for food that had been touched by fire and ate it, then he got up to pray; he prayed, then `Hadrat Uthman (may Allah be well pleased with him) said: I sat where the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) sat and ate the food that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) ate and I offered the prayer that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) offered.
