حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ أَخْبَرَنَا عَطَاءُ بْنُ السَّائِبِ عَنِ ابْنِ أُذْنَانَ قَالَ أَسْلَفْتُ عَلْقَمَةَ أَلْفَيْ دِرْهَمٍ فَلَمَّا خَرَجَ عَطَاؤُهُ قُلْتُ لَهُ اقْضِنِي قَالَ أَخِّرْنِي إِلَى قَابِلٍ فَأَتَيْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَأَخَذْتُهَا قَالَ فَأَتَيْتُهُ بَعْدُ قَالَ بَرَّحْتَ بِي قَدْ مَنَعْتَنِي فَقُلْتُ نَعَمْ هُوَ عَمَلُكَ قَالَ وَمَا شَأْنِي قُلْتُ إِنَّكَ حَدَّثْتَنِي عَنْ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّ السَّلَفَ يَجْرِي مَجْرَى شَطْرِ الصَّدَقَةِ قَالَ نَعَمْ فَهُوَ كَذَاكَ قَالَ فَخُذْ الْآنَ.
English Translation
Affan told us, Hammad told us, Ata' ibn al-Sa'ib informed us, from Ibn Udhnan, who said: "I lent Alqamah two thousand dirhams. When his stipend came out, I said to him: 'Pay me back.' He said: 'Give me until next year.' So I came to him then and took it." He said: "Then I came to him afterward." He said: "'You have wronged me; you have deprived me.'" I said: "Yes, it is your own doing." He said: "'What is my matter?'" I said: "You told me, from Ibn Mas'ud, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'A loan counts as equal to half of charity.'" He said: "'Yes, that is so.'" He said: "'Then take it now.'"
