English Translation
Jarir told us, from Mansur, from Ibrahim, from Alqamah, from Abdullah, who said: "The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, performed a prayer, and I do not know whether he added or reduced rak'ahs. When he gave the closing salutation, it was said to him: 'O Messenger of Allah, has something new happened in the prayer?' He said: 'No, what is that?' They said: 'You prayed such-and-such.'" He said: "So he turned his feet and prostrated the two prostrations of forgetfulness. When he gave the closing salutation, he said: 'I am only a human being; I forget as you forget. So if any of you is in doubt in the prayer, let him seek out the correct course, and when he has given the closing salutation, let him prostrate twice.'"
