English Translation
Amr ibn al-Haytham Abu Qatan told us: al-Mas'udi told us, from Sa'id ibn Amr, from Abu Ubaydah, from Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, that a man came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and said: "When is the Night of Decree?" He said: "Which of you remembers the night of al-Sahbawat?" Abdullah said: "I do, may my father and mother be sacrificed for you! I had dates in my hand which I ate before dawn, concealed behind the back part of my saddle, at the time the moon rose."
