English Translation
Abu al-Nadr and Hasan ibn Musa narrated to us. They said: Shayban narrated to us, from Layth, from Shahr, from Asma' bint Yazid, who said: A drink was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and was passed around the people. Among them was a fasting man. When it reached him, the Prophet said to him: "Drink." It was said: "O Messenger of Allah, he does not break his fast; he fasts perpetually." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The one who fasts perpetually has not truly fasted."
