حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ هُوَ ابْنُ الْقَاسِمِ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شَهْرُ بْنُ حَوْشَبٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَتْنِي أَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ يَزِيدَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَمَعَ نِسَاءَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ لِلْبَيْعَةِ فَقَالَتْ لَهُ أَسْمَاءُ أَلَا تَحْسُرُ لَنَا عَنْ يَدِكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنِّي لَسْتُ أُصَافِحُ النِّسَاءَ وَلَكِنْ آخُذُ عَلَيْهِنَّ وَفِي النِّسَاءِ خَالَةٌ لَهَا عَلَيْهَا قُلْبَانِ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ وَخَوَاتِيمُ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَا هَذِهِ هَلْ يَسُرُّكِ أَنْ يُحَلِّيَكِ اللَّهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مِنْ جَمْرِ جَهَنَّمَ سِوَارَيْنِ وَخَوَاتِيمَ فَقَالَتْ أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ قَالَتْ قُلْتُ يَا خَالَتِي اطْرَحِي مَا عَلَيْكِ فَطَرَحَتْهُ فَحَدَّثَتْنِي أَسْمَاءُ وَاللَّهِ يَا بُنَيَّ لَقَدْ طَرَحَتْهُ فَمَا أَدْرِي مَنْ لَقَطَهُ مِنْ مَكَانِهِ وَلَا الْتَفَتَ مِنَّا أَحَدٌ إِلَيْهِ قَالَتْ أَسْمَاءُ فَقُلْتُ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ إِنَّ إِحْدَاهُنَّ تَصْلَفُ عِنْدَ زَوْجِهَا إِذَا لَمْ تُمَلَّحْ لَهُ أَوْ تَحَلَّى لَهُ قَالَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا عَلَى إِحْدَاكُنَّ أَنْ تَتَّخِذَ قُرْطَيْنِ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ وَتَتَّخِذَ لَهَا جُمَانَتَيْنِ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ فَتُدْرِجَهُ بَيْنَ أَنَامِلِهَا بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ زَعْفَرَانٍ فَإِذَا هُوَ كَالذَّهَبِ يَبْرُقُ.
English Translation
Hashim, who is Ibn al-Qasim, narrated to us, Abd al-Hamid narrated to us, Shahr ibn Hawshab narrated to us. He said: Asma' bint Yazid narrated to me that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gathered the Muslim women for the pledge of allegiance. Asma' said to him: "Will you not extend your hand for us, O Messenger of Allah?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to her: "I do not shake hands with women, but I take their pledge." Among the women was an aunt of hers who was wearing two bracelets of gold and rings of gold. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to her: "O woman, would it please you that Allah adorn you on the Day of Resurrection with two bracelets of embers from Hellfire and rings?" She said: "I seek refuge with Allah, O Prophet of Allah!" Asma' said: I said, "O aunt, take off what is on you." So she took them off. Asma' said: "By Allah, O my son, she threw them off and I do not know who picked them up from their place, and none of us turned to look at them." Asma' said: I said, "O Prophet of Allah, if one of them does not adorn herself, she will be neglected by her husband." The Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "There is nothing wrong with one of you making earrings of silver and making two beads of silver, then coating them between her fingers with saffron, so that they look like gold shining."
