حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنْ صَالِحٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ كَيْسَانَ قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ حَدَّثَنِي عُرْوَةُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ أَنَّ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتَ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ أَخْبَرَتْ عَنْ أُمِّ حَبِيبَةَ بِنْتِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ جَحْشٍ قَالَتْ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا فَزِعًا يَقُولُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَيْلٌ لِلْعَرَبِ مِنْ شَرٍّ قَدْ اقْتَرَبَ فُتِحَ الْيَوْمَ مِنْ رَدْمِ يَأْجُوجَ وَمَأْجُوجَ مِثْلُ هَذَا قَالَ وَحَلَّقَ بِأُصْبُعَيْهِ الْإِبْهَامِ وَالَّتِي تَلِيهَا قَالَتْ زَيْنَبُ بِنْتُ جَحْشٍ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَنَهْلِكُ وَفِينَا الصَّالِحُونَ قَالَ نَعَمْ إِذَا كَثُرَ الْخَبَثُ.
English Translation
Ya'qub told us, my father told us, from Salih - meaning Ibn Kaysan - Ibn Shihab said: Urwah ibn al-Zubayr told me that Zaynab bint Abi Salamah informed, from Umm Habibah bint Abi Sufyan, from Zaynab bint Jahsh, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, entered upon her alarmed, saying, "There is no god but Allah; woe to the Arabs from an evil that has drawn near. A gap has been opened today in the barrier of Gog and Magog like this" - he said, and he made a circle with his thumb and the finger next to it. Zaynab bint Jahsh said: So I said, "O Messenger of Allah, will we be destroyed while there are righteous people among us?" He said, "Yes, when wickedness increases."
