حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْخَيْرِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا بَصْرَةَ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّا غَادُونَ إِلَى يَهُودَ فَلَا تَبْدَءُوهُمْ بِالسَّلَامِ فَإِذَا سَلَّمُوا عَلَيْكُمْ فَقُولُوا وَعَلَيْكُمْ.
English Translation
Hasan told us: Ibn Lahi'ah told us, he said: Yazid ibn Abi Habib told us, from Abu al-Khayr, he said: I heard Abu Basrah say: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "We are going in the morning to the Jews, so do not initiate the greeting to them; if they greet you, say, 'And upon you.'"
