حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ أَنَّ أَبَا عِيَاضٍ حَدَّثَ أَنَّ مَرْوَانَ بَعَثَ إِلَى أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهَا مَوْلَاهَا فَقَالَتْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصْبِحُ جُنُبًا فَيَصُومُ وَلَا يُفْطِرُ قَالَ فَرَجَعَ إِلَيْهِ فَأَخْبَرَهُ قَالَ فَبَعَثَ إِلَى عَائِشَةَ فَبَعَثَ إِلَيْهَا مَوْلَاهَا أَوْ غُلَامَهَا ذَكْوَانَ فَقَالَتْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصْبِحُ جُنُبًا مِنْ جِمَاعٍ غَيْرِ حُلُمٍ فَيَصُومُ وَلَا يُفْطِرُ فَقَالَ لَهُ ائْتِ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ فَأَخْبِرْهُ فَانْطَلَقَ إِلَى أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ فَأَخْبَرَهُ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ وَعَنْ عَائِشَةَ فَقَالَ هُمَا أَعْلَمُ.
English Translation
Narrated to us by Affan, who said: Hammam narrated to us, from Qatadah, that Abu 'Iyad related that Marwan sent to Umm Salamah, wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) - he sent his mawla to her - and she said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to enter the morning in a state of major impurity, and he would fast and not break it." He said: "So he returned to him and informed him." He said: "So he sent to A'ishah - he sent to her his mawla or servant Dhakwan - and she said: 'The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to enter the morning in a state of major impurity from intercourse, not from a wet dream, and he would fast and not break it.'" So he said to him: "Go to Abu Hurayrah and inform him." So he went to Abu Hurayrah and informed him, from Umm Salamah and from A'ishah, and he said: "They know best."
