حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ الْجَزَّارِ قَالَ دَخَلَ نَاسٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ فَقَالُوا يَا أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ حَدِّثِينَا عَنْ سِرِّ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَتْ كَانَ سِرُّهُ وَعَلَانِيَتُهُ سَوَاءً ثُمَّ نَدِمْتُ فَقُلْتُ أَفْشَيْتُ سِرَّ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَتْ فَلَمَّا دَخَلَ أَخْبَرَتْهُ فَقَالَ أَحْسَنْتِ.
English Translation
Narrated to us by Muhammad ibn 'Ubayd, who said: al-A'mash narrated to us, from 'Amr ibn Murrah, from Yahya ibn al-Jazzar, who said: Some of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) went in to see Umm Salamah and said, "O Mother of the Believers, tell us about the private matters of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." She said: "His private and his public conduct were the same." Then [she said]: "I regretted it and said, 'Have I disclosed the private secret of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?'" She said: "So when he came in, she told him, and he said, 'You did well.'"
