وَجَدْتُ فِي كِتَابِ أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَاشِدٍ عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنِ أَبِيهِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّهُ بَلَغَهَا أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ الْمَيِّتُ يُعَذَّبُ بِبُكَاءِ أَهْلِهِ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَتْ يَرْحَمُ اللَّهُ عُمَرَ وَابْنَ عُمَرَ فَوَاللَّهِ مَا هُمَا بِكَاذِبَيْنِ وَلَا مُكَذَّبَيْنِ وَلَا مُتَزَيِّدَيْنِ إِنَّمَا قَالَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي رَجُلٍ مِنْ الْيَهُودِ وَمَرَّ بِأَهْلِهِ وَهُمْ يَبْكُونَ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ إِنَّهُمْ لَيَبْكُونَ عَلَيْهِ وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَيُعَذِّبُهُ فِي قَبْرِهِ.
English Translation
I found in my father's book: Husayn ibn Muhammad told us: Muhammad ibn Rashid told us, from Habib ibn Abi Habib, from Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Qasim, from his father al-Qasim ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr, from Aisha, that it reached her that Ibn Umar was relating from his father Umar ibn al-Khattab that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The dead is punished by the weeping of his family over him. She said: May Allah have mercy on Umar and Ibn Umar; by Allah, neither of them lied nor was lied to, nor did they add anything. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, only said that about a Jewish man; he passed by his family while they were weeping over him, and he said, "They are weeping over him, while Allah, Mighty and Majestic, is punishing him in his grave."
