English Translation
Ya'qub narrated to us: Ibn Akhi Ibn Shihab narrated to us, and he mentioned part of the account of al-Hudaybiya. Muhammad ibn Muslim said: Urwa ibn al-Zubayr informed me that Aisha, wife of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, informed him that the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, used to test the believing women who emigrated to him with this verse, by the words of God Most High: "O Prophet, when believing women come to you pledging allegiance to you that they will not associate anything with God, nor steal, nor commit adultery, nor kill their children, nor bring forth a falsehood they invent between their hands and feet, nor disobey you in what is right, then accept their pledge and ask forgiveness for them from God; indeed God is Forgiving, Merciful." Urwa ibn al-Zubayr said: Aisha said: Whichever believing woman affirmed this condition, the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, would say to her, "I have accepted your pledge," verbally - and by God, his hand never touched the hand of any woman at all during the pledging; he never pledged with any of them except by his saying, "I have accepted your pledge on that."
