حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ شَيْبَانَ عَنْ أَبِي نَوْفَلٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُتَسَامَعُ عِنْدَهُ الشِّعْرُ فَقَالَتْ قَدْ كَانَ أَبْغَضَ الْحَدِيثِ إِلَيْهِ.
English Translation
Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated from al-Aswad ibn Shayban from Abu Nawfal, who said: I asked Aisha, 'Was poetry recited within earshot of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him?' She said: 'It was the most disliked kind of speech to him.'
