حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْعَاصِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ اسْتَأْذَنَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنَا مَعَهُ فِي مِرْطٍ وَاحِدٍ قَالَتْ فَأَذِنَ لَهُ فَقَضَى إِلَيْهِ حَاجَتَهُ وَهُوَ مَعِي فِي الْمِرْطِ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ ثُمَّ اسْتَأْذَنَ عَلَيْهِ عُمَرُ فَأَذِنَ لَهُ فَقَضَى إِلَيْهِ حَاجَتَهُ عَلَى تِلْكَ الْحَالِ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ ثُمَّ اسْتَأْذَنَ عَلَيْهِ عُثْمَانُ فَأَصْلَحَ عَلَيْهِ ثِيَابَهُ وَجَلَسَ فَقَضَى إِلَيْهِ حَاجَتَهُ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ اسْتَأْذَنَ عَلَيْكَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَقَضَى إِلَيْكَ حَاجَتَهُ عَلَى حَالِكَ تِلْكَ ثُمَّ اسْتَأْذَنَ عَلَيْكَ عُمَرُ فَقَضَى إِلَيْكَ حَاجَتَهُ عَلَى حَالِكَ ثُمَّ اسْتَأْذَنَ عَلَيْكَ عُثْمَانُ فَكَأَنَّكَ احْتَفَظْتَ فَقَالَ إِنَّ عُثْمَانَ رَجُلٌ حَيِيٌّ وَإِنِّي لَوْ أَذِنْتُ لَهُ عَلَى تِلْكَ الْحَالِ خَشِيتُ أَنْ لَا يَقْضِيَ إِلَيَّ حَاجَتَهُ.
English Translation
Abd al-Razzaq told us, he said: Ma'mar informed us, from al-Zuhri, from Yahya ibn Sa'id ibn al-As, from his father, from Aishah, who said: "Abu Bakr asked permission to enter upon the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, while I was with him under one wrap. He was given permission, and he settled his matter with him while he was with me under the wrap, then he left. Then Umar asked permission, and he was given permission, and he settled his matter with him in the same state, then he left. Then Uthman asked permission, and he adjusted his clothing and sat up, and settled his matter with him, then he left." Aishah said: I said to him: "O Messenger of Allah, Abu Bakr asked your permission and you settled his matter with him in your state as it was; then Umar asked your permission and you settled his matter with him in your state; then Uthman asked your permission and it was as though you took care to compose yourself." He said: "Uthman is a shy man, and I feared that if I gave him permission in that state, he would not settle his matter with me."
