حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَيْسٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ كَيْفَ كَانَ نَوْمُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْجَنَابَةِ أَيَغْتَسِلُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنَامَ فَقَالَتْ كُلَّ ذَلِكَ قَدْ كَانَ يَفْعَلُ رُبَّمَا اغْتَسَلَ فَنَامَ وَرُبَّمَا تَوَضَّأَ فَنَامَ قَالَ قُلْتُ لَهَا كَيْفَ كَانَتْ قِرَاءَةُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ اللَّيْلِ أَيَجْهَرُ أَمْ يُسِرُّ قَالَتْ كُلَّ ذَلِكَ قَدْ كَانَ يَفْعَلُ رُبَّمَا جَهَرَ وَرُبَّمَا أَسَرَّ.
English Translation
Abdullah ibn Abi Qays said: I asked Aisha, "How was the sleep of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when in a state of ritual impurity - did he perform the ritual bath before sleeping?" She said, "He did all of that - sometimes he would bathe and then sleep, and sometimes he would perform ablution and then sleep." I said to her, "How was the recitation of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) at night - did he recite aloud or silently?" She said, "He did all of that - sometimes he recited aloud, and sometimes silently."
