حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَسْوَدُ بْنُ شَيْبَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نَوْفَلِ بْنُ أَبِي عَقْرَبٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ هَلْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُتَسَامَعُ عِنْدَهُ الشِّعْرُ قَالَتْ كَانَ أَبْغَضَ الْحَدِيثِ إِلَيْهِ.
English Translation
Affan narrated to us: al-Aswad ibn Shayban narrated to us: Abu Nawfal ibn Abi Aqrab narrated to us, who said: "I asked A'ishah: 'Was poetry ever recited within earshot of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him?' She said: 'It was the most hateful of speech to him.'"
