English Translation

When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was taken on the Night Journey (Isra'), he passed by a pleasant fragrance. He said: 'O Jibril, what is this pleasant fragrance?' He said: 'This is the fragrance of the hairdresser of Pharaoh's daughter and her children.' He asked about her story, and Jibril told him that while she was combing the hair of Pharaoh's daughter, the comb fell. She said: 'In the name of Allah (Bismillah).' The daughter of Pharaoh said: 'My father?' She said: 'No, my Lord and your Lord and your father's Lord — Allah.' She said: 'Shall I tell my father?' She said: 'Yes.' She told him, and he summoned her and said: 'Do you have a lord other than me?' She said: 'Yes, my Lord and your Lord is Allah.' He ordered a brass cow to be heated, then ordered her and her children to be thrown into it. She said: 'I have a request.' He said: 'What is it?' She said: 'I want my bones and my children's bones to be gathered in one cloth and buried.' He said: 'That is for you, as a right upon us.' He ordered her children to be thrown in one by one before her eyes, until it came to an infant among them who was still nursing. She seemed to hesitate, and the infant said: 'O mother, jump in, for the punishment of this world is lighter than the punishment of the Hereafter.' So she jumped in.
