حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ أَنَّ أَبَا سَلَمَةَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَخْبَرَهُ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ كَيْفَ كَانَتْ صَلَاةُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي رَمَضَانَ فَقَالَتْ مَا كَانَ يَزِيدُ فِي رَمَضَانَ وَلَا فِي غَيْرِهِ عَلَى إِحْدَى عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً يُصَلِّي أَرْبَعًا فَلَا تَسْأَلْ عَنْ طُولِهِنَّ وَحُسْنِهِنَّ ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي أَرْبَعًا فَلَا تَسْأَلْ عَنْ حُسْنِهِنَّ وَطُولِهِنَّ ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي ثَلَاثًا فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَتَنَامُ قَبْلَ أَنْ تُوتِرَ قَالَ يَا عَائِشَةُ إِنَّ عَيْنِي تَنَامُ وَلَا يَنَامُ قَلْبِي.
English Translation
Ishaq ibn Isa narrated to us, he said: Malik narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Abi Sa'id al-Maqburi: that Abu Salamah ibn Abd al-Rahman informed him, he said: I asked Aishah, "How was the prayer of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, during Ramadan?" She said, "He never exceeded, in Ramadan or any other month, eleven rak'ahs: he would pray four — do not ask about their length and beauty — then he would pray four — do not ask about their beauty and length — then he would pray three." Aishah said: I said, "O Messenger of Allah, do you sleep before praying witr?" He said, "O Aishah, my eyes sleep, but my heart does not sleep."
