حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ قَالَ قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي مَرَضِهِ الَّذِي مَاتَ فِيهِ يَا عَائِشَةُ مَا فَعَلَتْ الذَّهَبُ فَجَاءَتْ مَا بَيْنَ الْخَمْسَةِ إِلَى السَّبْعَةِ أَوْ الثَّمَانِيَةِ أَوْ التِّسْعَةِ فَجَعَلَ يُقَلِّبُهَا بِيَدِهِ وَيَقُولُ مَا ظَنُّ مُحَمَّدٍ بِاللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَوْ لَقِيَهُ وَهَذِهِ عِنْدَهُ أَنْفِقِيهَا.
English Translation
Aisha said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said during his final illness: 'O Aisha, what happened to the gold?' She brought between five and seven or eight or nine (dinars). He kept turning them over in his hand and said: 'What would Muhammad think of Allah, the Mighty and Glorious, if he were to meet Him while having this? Spend it.'"
