حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا مُغِيرَةُ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا اسْتَرَاثَ الْخَبَرَ تَمَثَّلَ فِيهِ بِبَيْتِ طَرَفَةَ وَيَأْتِيكَ بِالْأَخْبَارِ مَنْ لَمْ تُزَوِّدِ.
English Translation
Hushaym told us, saying: Mughirah informed us, from al-Sha'bi, from Aishah, who said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) found news delayed, he would recite in reference to it the verse of Tarafah: "And there comes to you the news of him you did not provision."
