English Translation
Yahya ibn Adam narrated to us, Ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us from al-Awza'i from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir from Abu Salama, and from 'Ata' ibn Yasar from Abu Salama, from 'Abdullah ibn Salam who said: We discussed among ourselves who among us would go to the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, and ask him which deeds are most beloved to God, Exalted is He. None of us stood up. So the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, sent a man to us who gathered us, and he recited to us this surah -- meaning Surat al-Saff -- in its entirety.
