Abd al-Rahman and Bahz told us, they said: Hammad ibn Salamah told us, from Abu Imran al-Jawni -- Bahz said: Abu Imran al-Jawni informed us -- from Alqamah ibn Abdullah al-Muzani, from Ma'qil ibn Yasar, that Umar appointed al-Nu'man ibn Muqarrin as governor, and he mentioned the hadith. He said -- meaning al-Nu'man: "But I witnessed the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): if he did not fight in the early part of the day, he would delay the fighting until the sun had passed its zenith, the winds began to blow, and victory would descend."
