English Translation
Affan told us: Hammad told us, from Ata' ibn al-Sa'ib, from Abu al-Bakhtari, that Salman besieged a fortress among the fortresses of Persia and said to his companions: "Let me do as I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) do." He praised Allah and extolled Him, then said: "I am a man from among you, and Allah has granted me Islam. You see the Arabs' obedience. If you accept Islam and emigrate to us, you will be in our position, subject to what applies to us. If you accept Islam and remain in your homes, you will be in the position of the Bedouins, subject to what applies to them and entitled to what they are entitled to. If you refuse and agree to pay jizyah, you will have what those who pay jizyah have and owe what they owe." He offered this to them for three days, then said to his companions: "Advance upon them," and he conquered it.
