English Translation
Affan told us, he said: I asked Hammad ibn Zayd about the charity of breaking the fast, and he related to me from Nu'man ibn Rashid, from al-Zuhri, from Tha'labah ibn Abi Su'ayr, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Give a sa' of corn or a sa' of wheat" -- and Hammad was uncertain -- "on behalf of every two people, young or old, male or female, free or slave, rich or poor. As for your rich, Allah will purify him thereby, and as for your poor, more than what he gives will be returned to him."
